Best Russian Comedies

I need to say that there is a small number of really good comedies. I realised that while choosing a movie to watch with my family. I'm pretty sure that I am not the only one having this type of problems. Seriously, almost every comedy right now has a huge amount of jokes which are not funny, evil, offensive and vulgar. This situation has inspired me to make a list of good comedies on Russian language because this is a Russian week in our blog.

1. Ivan Vasilevich: Back to the Future, 1973 (Rating IMDB: 8,4)
Shurik Timofeev builds a working model of a time machine. By accident, Ivan Bunsha, an apartment complex manager, and George Miloslavsky, a petty burglar, are transferred to the 16th century Moscow, while Tsar Ivan the Terrible goes into the year 1973. - Written by Dmitry Zharkov

2. The Diamond Arm, 1973 (Rating IMDB: 8,5)
Semyon Gorbunkov goes on a cruise. In Istanbul, he slips and breaks his arm. What he didn't know is that this was a signal for a gang of smugglers (a real smuggler - Gena - was also on board the same ship). So his arm gets bandaged with gold and diamonds. After he returns home, the gangsters are trying to get their stuff back, while the police try to catch them using Gorbunkov and his arm. - Written by Boris Shafir

3. Watch Out for the Automobile, 1966 (Rating IMDB: 8,3)
The story of a Soviet "Robin Hood", who works as an insurance agent. Due to access to financial data, he can recognize some of his customers as the corrupt or fraudsters. Working 9-to-5 as an insurance agent, at night he becomes a car thief. He hijacks the cars of "bad guys" anonymously committing all money to charity. But the situation becomes complicated: his best friend is a cop who is trying to catch the serial car thief. - Written by Hleb Rubanau

4. Kidnapping, Caucasian Style, 1967 (Rating IMDB: 8,4)
In this comic but dated story, nerdy Shurik travels to the Caucasus in search of native legends and folklore. But what he finds is a beautiful girl whom, due to intoxication and deceit of the local "gang", he ends up literally stealing for the local deceitful governor. All the time Shurik thinks that it is all just a one old Caucasian custom. When he, finally, realizes what he did he goes out in search for the girl of his dreams. - Written by Ptah Hoteb

These are the best comedies in my opinion. They are so funny and not boring. I totally recommend you to watch them. If you have some questions we would love to answer them. Thank you :)
